The Council of European Professional Informatics Societies (CEPIS) is a non-profit organisation seeking to improve and promote high standards among Informatics Professionals in recognition of the impact that Informatics has on employment, business and society. CEPIS is comprised of 37 [http://www.cepis.org/index.jsp?b=0-636&pID=637&nID=644 Member Societies] across 33 European Countries, representing over 250,000 informatics professionals.
One of the goals of CEPIS is to be a leading organisation in the promotion and development of ICT Skills across Europe. CEPIS has developed the highly successful ECDL and [http://www.eucip.com/ EUCIP] programmes and produces a range of [http://www.cepis.org/index.jsp?&pID=636&nID=638 research and publications] in the area of skills, including [http://www.upgrade-cepis.org/ UPGRADE] an independent publication for informatics professionals.
As a professional body, CEPIS is actively involved in promoting Professionalism in IT practice amongst its Members. This occurs through regular European-wide events and specific publications.

* To raise the profile and promote the views of the European Informatics Societies and Informatics Professionals, to the European Commission and Institutions

UPGRADE appears bimonthly in English on www.upgrade-cepis.org (no printed edition is available). Its monographic section is also published in Spanish by [http://www.ati.es/novatica/infonovatica_eng.html Novática] , our UPGRADE partner in Spain.
In UPGRADE outstanding international specialists cover research and technical developments of current or future interest.
