The Alliata family is perhaps the most ancient aristocratic family in Europe. The family traces its origins to an Imperial "decretus" that dates back to
325 , when the Roman EmperorConstantine the Great gave to the patrice Alciata (Alicatus) ofMilan the Earldom of Italy. In530 the Earl Dacius Alliata becameArchbishop of Milan , when he died in552 he was declared saint by thePope with afeast day onJanuary 14 .Subsequently, in the
12th century , the family resettled toPisa and then toPalermo where they conquered 9 titles ofPrince , including "Prince of theHoly Roman Empire ", the title of "Gentiluomo di camera di Sua Santità", a title ofArchduke linked with Von Haugsburg family, two titles of Duke, 1 title of Marquis, 18 titles of Earl, and 8 titles of Baron.References
