Prince Alliata

Prince Alliata

History

The Alliata family is perhaps the most ancient aristocratic family in Europe. The family traces its origins to an Imperial "decretus" that dates back to 325, when the Roman Emperor Constantine the Great gave to the patrice Alciata (Alicatus) of Milan the Earldom of Italy. In 530 the Earl Dacius Alliata became Archbishop of Milan, when he died in 552 he was declared saint by the Pope with a feast day on January 14.

Subsequently, in the 12th century, the family resettled to Pisa and then to Palermo where they conquered 9 titles of Prince, including "Prince of the Holy Roman Empire", the title of "Gentiluomo di camera di Sua Santità", a title of Archduke linked with Von Haugsburg family, two titles of Duke, 1 title of Marquis, 18 titles of Earl, and 8 titles of Baron.
