Kendric Smith is the current holder of the Arkansas state record for most touchdowns in a football game, with 9. Smith played in what has been called the greatest high school football game of all time, a 73-72 loss for his team, Hughes High School in Hughes, Arkansas against East Poinsett County High School, on October 13, 2006. The game was tied 66-66 at the end of regulation, with Smith having run for touchdowns of 13, 20, 28, 35, 40, 45, 52 and 53 yards. Then, in overtime, Smith scored one more to break the state record but could not convert the two point conversion, giving Hughes just a six-point lead. EPC proceeded to get a touchdown to make it 72-72, and for the first time in the season, kicked the extra point to win the game, 73-72. Brett Hardin of East Poinsett County also got remarkable numbers of his own, ending up with 835 all-purpose yards. The game got national coverage, on ESPN and CNN as well as many other networks.
