Skaven sign

Skaven sign

The Skaven sign is a sign used to denote affiliation with the Skaven clan, a race of underground rats in the fictional Warhammer universe. Since 2005 however, the sign has seen increasing use in the real world, to highlight a person's collecting of Skaven miniatures.

The Skaven sign involves lifting the left arm diagonally upwards, then the right, crossing them. The left arm is then changed to a horizontal position above the right arm, so the movement represents a triangle shape. Whilst this happens, the person moving will say 'But it's a Skaven sign' and when the movement is finished they will make an animalistic noise of elation.

The sign was pioneered by David Paine, a young boy attending Edgbarrow School in Crowthorne, England, but the sign is now in use worldwide.
