Oxford Downs Cricket Club
- Oxford Downs Cricket Club
Oxford Downs Cricket Club is a cricket club in Oxfordshire with a successful youth section. Founded in 1923 with the amalgamation of Standlake and Northmoor cricket clubs. The club took its name from the breed of sheep grazing in the field that was to become the ground. Oxford Downs CC today fields three men's league teams, a Sunday friendly team, a social team (The Black Sheep XI) and many youth teams.
The first XI, second XI and third XI compete in division 1, division 4 and division 9a of the Cherwell Cricket League respectively.
The new clubhouse opened by David Cameron displays a vast array of cricketing boots from cricketing legends past and present.
In 2007, the first team was captained by Wesley Bartlett, the second by Matt Watts and the third by David Bent.
In 2007 the club reached the semi finals of the National Village Knockout, losing out to Findon Cricket Club from Sussex.
In 2008, the first team is captained by Wesley Bartlett, the second by Matt Watts and the third by Simon Florey.
