Georgia began participating in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2007. Their participation was first declined, because only 18 countries were able to participate, but after Bosnia & Herzegovina withdrew, Georgia got the chance to participate.

The country's first junior participant was selected through a nationwide three-stage process. The deadline for the applications was 10 July 2007. Afterwards, all applications were discussed in the first stage, in the second one there were regional castings leading to a final selection of 12 entries that went through to a national final.
