ServDiv

ServDiv

A ServDiv or SERVDIV is a standard U.S. Navy abbreviation or acrynym for "Service Division." A Service Division consists of a number of Service Squadrons.

A Service Division consisted of a number of service squadrons, which contained U.S. Navy ships that served the fleet. The service squadrons included ships such as tankers, oilers, refrigerator ships, ammunition ships, supply ships, repair ships, and the like. The commander of the service division (ComServDiv) was responsible for the operation of all ships in his/her division.

The Commander of a Service Division is known, in official Navy communications, as COMSERVDIV (followed by a number), such as COMSERVDIV NINE.
