Sergei Korostin (or Sergey Korostin) (born
July 5 ,1989 inProkopievsk ,Russia ) is a Russianice hockey player. He is 5'10" tall and weighs 185 pounds. He plays as a forward, and shoots left. He was drafted in the third round, 64th overall, by theDallas Stars in the2007 NHL Entry Draft . In January 2008 he transferred to theTexas Tornado of the Tier IINorth American Hockey League .Playing career
In 2006–2007, he plays for the
HC Dynamo Moscow in theRussian Super League . Internationally, he delivered at the U18 WJC, scoring in key games against difficult opponents. Both him andAlexei Cherepanov combined for more than half of Russia's goals, potting 5 each. Scouts reports that he can handle the puck at full speed and does not hesitate to forecheck and crash through the opposition, which shows a style of play that is compatible with the more physical North American hockey.June 26, 2008 Sergei Korostin was selected by the London Knights from the OHL. London are an Ontario team that form part of the CHL which holds their annual European Import draft every spring. Each CHL team is allowed 2 import players and Korostin will join Vladimir Roth chosen by London in 2007.
