Subcircuit board

Subcircuit board

A subcircuit board is a specialised component of a small-grade nuclear weapon, often referred to as a "suitcase nuke" due to its size and highly regarded portability. The specific circuits within the board are easily damaged and are extremely vulnerable to temperature changes.

The suitcase nuke's development was first undertaken by the Soviet Union in the 1980s, but such devices were largely deactivated as a result of the collapse of the communist republic.

Such suitcase nukes are often regarded as being highly vulnerable to terrorist activity, particularly by dissident Russian separatists - as featured in the drama 24.
