Anthony Mascarenhas was a

Mascarenhas' work is known to have been closely associated with themes of Bangladesh, since the start of this country's freedom struggle. In 1971, he fled Pakistan to expose atrocities committed by the Pakistan army in what was then East Pakistan (now Bangladesh).
His article in "The Sunday Times of London" and subsequent book ("The Rape of Bangladesh") created a global sensation.
Some accounts credit him with being one of the most influential journalists in building awareness about the situation in Bangladesh, then East Pakistan.

Mascarenhas was the author of books such as "The Rape of Bangladesh" and "Bangladesh: A Legacy of Blood" (Hodder and Stoughton, 1986, ISBN 0 340 39420 X).
Awards
In 1972, he won the Granada's Gerald Barry Award ('What The Papers Say') and the International Publishing Company's Special Award for reporting on the Bangladesh "genocide".
Working life
In Britain, he worked for 14 years with "The Sunday Times", and was later a freelance writer.
