Bamidele Ojo

Bamidele A. Ojo is a professor of political science and teaches African politics, human rights and globalization at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, New Jersey.A Professor of Political Science, he received his degrees, BSc Political Science, MSc International Relations and Diploma in French from the University of Ife, Nigeria(now Obafemi Awolowo University). He also received an Mphil(DEA) African Studies and PhD Political Science from the University of Bordeaux in France. Dr Ojo also received an LLM international Law from the University of Nottingham, England and a DIHL International Humanitarian law among other degrees.

His book, "Human Rights and the New World Order", is used by the United Nations University International Human Rights Course. He has published extensively in his areas of expertise and his most recent publication is "Africa's Triple Dilemma: The Challenges of State Building, Democratization and Globalization".

He is the publisher of the leading Internet resource portal, AfricaPoliticsOnline.com.

He was a Fulbright senior scholar to the University of Lagos, Nigeria in 2001-2002. He was also a candidate for Governor of Ekiti on the slate of the Nigerian ruling People's Democratic Party in 2003 and 2006. In 2006, he came second in the PDP primary and the run off between him and the candidate who came first(Yinka Akerele) was cancelled by President Obasanjo and the candidate who came third, Mr Segun Oni was named the party candidate for the governorship election in April 2007. Segun Oni later won the election. Professor Ojo was named the chairman of the governing council of Michael Imodu National Institute for Labor Studies, a parastatal of the Nigerian federal Ministry of Employment, Labor and Productivity, by President Obasanjo in October 2005.
