Sakher Habash ( _ar. صخر حبش, born
10 November 1939 ) is a Palestinian leader of theFatah movement.Biography
Habash was born in
Bayt Dajan , nearJaffa , in 1939. He became a refugee in the1948 Arab-Israeli War , ending up first inRamallah , then inBalata Refugee Camp nearNablus . He studied Geology and Water Resources atCairo 'sAin Shams University from 1958. He turned to Palestinian national movement in the early 1960s and joined Fatah in 1962, when he became responsible for recruitment. He was appointed Fatah regional command inLebanon in October 1972. He has been a member of the Fatah Central Committee since August 1989, where he served as Fatah's general deputy of intellectual affairs. He is a prolific writer and poet.
