Background
After Corman produced Dinocroc in 2004, he wanted to creat a sequel to be named Dinocroc 2. However, Sci-Fi Channel turned down the project after claiming that sequels did not do well for them.[1] Corman decided to go ahead with the project, but under the name Supergator.[2]
Plot
Professor Scott Kimsy (Brad Johnson) is an American geologist monitoring a local volcano when the Supergator, a Deinosuchus recreated from fossilized, preserved DNA escapes from a secret bio-engineering research center/laboratory. Along the way, it eats many people, including two lovers, three drunken teens, three models, two tourists and a fisherman. It also eats Alexandra Stevens, (Mary Stiefvater) and Ryan Houston (Josh Kelly)
Kinney joins forces with another scientist (McGillis) and a Texan alligator hunter (Colton). They pursue the monster as it heads down river intent on destroying a luxurious resort packed with hundreds of tourists. Guns and other weapons have no effect on it at all, so they plan a trap for it using a fake volcano. They lure him on to it, with the Texan alligator hunter as live bait. Supergator gets him and is blown up with poisonous gas, strong flames and a shotgun.

Sequel
In 2010, Roger Corman produced a third film in the series entitled Dinocroc vs. Supergator. It aired on Syfy June 26, 2010, the film was directed by Jim Wynorski and starred David Carradine and John Callahan. It featured the two crocodilians, which battled at the climax of the film. Dinocroc and Supergator received a lot of look upgrades, such as Supergator looking more like a real Deinosuchus, and Dinocroc looking more like a real Suchomimus. At the end of the film, in a warehouse, some baby reptile screeches are heard, hinting that another sequel will come too.
Notes
The film uses sound effects from the Jurassic Park film series, most notably the roars, screeches, and hisses from the Spinosaurus and Velociraptors. In the later part of the film when a person is attacked by the Supergator, the sound of raptors attacking is heard, with no explanation for the awkward sound of rustling bushes and a cow dying. Jurassic Park itself is also referenced and hinted at several times during the film. At one scene, a jeep is driving, and a man is waving his hands for the jeep to stop, when it shows Supergator appear from the side and devour him, from the viewpoint of the Jeep's windshield, very similar to a rather very well known scene in Jurassic Park III.
Supergator does seem to be an in-concept only sequel to Dinocroc. For one, the Dinocroc and the Supergator look incredibly similar, despite Supergator walking around on all fours instead of Dinocroc walking on its hind legs. It is also mentioned that another genetic company cloned a creature like the Supergator before which might actually be Dinocroc. During the opening credits, the theme music from Dinocroc can be clearly heard, and Dinocroc can even be seen on the front cover of the dvd (it's standing on its hind legs, something Supergator never did in the film.) Dinocroc and Supergator both also bear some resemblance to the American Godzilla.
