Flugstoðir or Isavia is the Icelandic airport administration. It is responsible for operating all public airports in Iceland, except Keflavík International Airport, which is owned by the Foreign Ministry.

History

The enterprise was founded in 1945 as Flugmálastjórn Íslands or the Icelandic Civil Aviation Administration to operate the airports in Iceland. The company was split into Flugstoðir, while Flugmálastjórn Íslands will continue as a regulator and inspectorate. The responsibility of Flugstoðir includes Air Traffic Management in Icelandic air space, which includes about 30% of all transatlantic flights.
