Çalik has dual Turkish-German nationality, he was eligible for either national team. After he made his debut for German U-21 squad in 2007, he stated he have a wish to change in nationality and play for Turkey in January 2008, 10 months after his 21st birthday. He refused any future call-up from Germany, and he choosed the Turkey, and it is possible that he will play the friendly match against Chile in August 2008.
