Ted Poor

. Ted Poor has toured extensively as a sideman or leader/guest soloist in Europe, the US, and Korea.

Background

Ted Poor grew up in Honeoye Falls, New York, where he attended high school with fellow jazz artists Ike Sturm and saxophonist Daniel Bennett. In 1999, Ted Poor attended the Eastman School of Music. There he studied drumset with Rich Thompson and percussion with John Beck. While at Eastman, Ted joined with several bands that are now active in the NYC area and abroad. They include the Respect Sextet, Neos, the Ike Sturm Ensemble, Christine Hagan and Jerseyband. As a leader, Ted has released a debut CD entitled All Around (Trier 2003). Most recently he has formed Third Wheel, a dynamic trio featuring Ben Monder and Ralph Alessi. Ted is also a founding member of the Brooklyn Jazz Underground. BJU is a collective of independent bandleaders with a shared commitment to improvised music.
