She received her MSc from Madras University (1970) and PhD from Bombay University (1976) underR. Sridharan . For many years, she was a professor at theTata Institute of Fundamental Research inMumbai .Honors
She is a fellow of the
Indian Academy of Sciences andIndian National Science Academy . She was an invited speaker at theInternational Congress of Mathematicians inZurich in 1994. Her research has been recognized with the Bhatnagar Award in 1987, an honorary doctorate from theUniversity of Lausanne in 1999, and theSrinivasa Ramanujan Birth Centenary Award in 2003. In 2005, she received the mathematics prize from the Academy of Sciences of the Developing World.External links
