"Volva longirostrata" is a species of medium-sized sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusc in the family Ovulidae, the cowry allies.

Distribution

This species is found in the western Pacific from Japan to northern New Zealand.

hell description

The shell is moderately large, the body long, narrow and spindle-shaped, greatly produced at the extremities into long slender recurved siphonal canals. The inner and outer lips are smooth, the latter with a rounded callused edge.

The shell coloration is pale flesh-pink, labrum white, and the extremities reddish-brown along the dorsal surface, with small red areas overall.

The shell length is up to 62.5 mm, and the maximum width is 7.5 mm.
