Phanor Breazeale (
December 29 ,1858 -April 29 ,1934 ) was a U.S. Representative fromLouisiana .Born in
Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana , Breazeale attended private schools.He moved toNatchitoches, Louisiana , in 1877. Clerked in a mercantile establishment for two years.He studied law.He served as clerk in the supreme court of the State.He was graduated from the law department ofTulane University , New Orleans, in 1881.He was admitted to the bar the same year and commenced practice in Natchitoches.He also engaged in newspaper work 1882-1884.He served as president of the school board of Natchitoches Parish 1888-1891.He served as district attorney for the tenth judicial district 1892-1900.He served as member of the State constitutional convention in 1898.Breazeale was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-sixth, Fifty-seventh, and Fifty-eighth Congresses (
March 4 ,1899 -March 3 ,1905 ).He was an unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1904.He resumed the practice of law inNatchitoches, Louisiana .He was appointed in October 1908 member of a commission to codify the criminal laws of Louisiana and to prepare a code of criminal procedure.He served as member of the Democratic State central committee since 1908 and a member of the executive committee.He served as delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1908 and 1916.He served as member of the constitutional convention to frame a constitution for the State of Louisiana in 1921.He died inNatchitoches, Louisiana ,April 29 ,1934 .He was interred in the Catholic Cemetery.References
