Chemistry

Product of the esterification of tartaric acid withcommercial stearyl alcohol, which consists essentiallyof stearyl and palmityl alcohols. It consists mainly of
diester, with minor amounts of monoester and ofunchanged starting materials.

Use

The stearyl tartrate is used as emulsifier under the E number E483.
