"Glossodoris amoena" is a species of very colorful, medium-sized sea slug, a dorid nudibranch, a marine opisthobranch gastropod mollusk in the family Chromodorididae.

Distribution

This species is endemic to New Zealand, where it is found along the east coast of Northland in the North Island.

Description

The length of this nudibranch is up to 58 mm.

This species is the most gaudily coloured dorid nudibranch in New Zealand. It can at once be recognised by the vermilion patches on the lilac body, the yellow margin, and the magenta coloured gills.

Life habits

This nudibranch feeds on, and usually lives upon, sponges.
