Rakesh Roshan started his career as an actor in the 1970s and has acted in over 70 films. He then set up his own production company Filmkraft in 1980 and his first production was "
Aap Ke Deewane " (1980). He made his directorial debut with "Khudgarz " (1987) and went onto direct severalBox office hits such as "Kishen Kanhaiya " (1990) and "Karan Arjun " (1995). Rakesh launched his son Hrithik's career as an actor with "Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai " (2000) This film enters theLimca Book of Records for the most number of Awards won by a Bollywood Film and was also the highest grosser of 2000. Musician Ram Sampat went to court against Rakesh Roshan alleging that music composed by him for an advertisement starring Hrithik Roshan had beenplagiarised for a song in "Krazzy 4". Rakesh Roshan lost thelawsuit in theSupreme Court and had to pay 2crore rupees (About $500,000) to Ram Sampat as compensation.
