Artists Space is a
non-profit art gallery dedicated to showcasingemerging artists located in theSoHo district ofNew York City . It was founded in1972 by Trudy Grace, an officer at theNew York State Council for the Arts ) and Irving Sandler, an art historian and critic in response to the difficulty artists faced at the time receiving direct support from any government funding agencies.
