- Nick Matthews
Nick Matthews is an Australian based cinematographer and film producer.
He studied filmmaking in Australia at Flinders University before moving to Europe in 1998 where he worked on productions such as the Steven Speilberg/Tom Hanks produced HBO series Band of Brothers and the Hugh Grant movie About a Boy, directed by the Weitz Brothers. In 2001 he returned to Australia and has since photographed
Alex Frayne 's feature filmModern Love (film) (ACS silver award, Best Foreign Film, European IF festival, Paris, 2006), Murali Thalluri's 2:37 (official selection at Cannes, Toronto, 2006, and an ACS gold award) which he also co-edited and co-produced, as well as the 2nd unit and "B" camera on Greg Reid’s thriller Like Minds starring Toni Colette and Richard Roxborough. Nick also photographedAnthony Maras ' AFC funded shorts Azadi (AFI nominated for best short and a golden tripod at the 2006 ACS awards) and his latest filmSpike Up , which stars Marcus Graham. Nick also shoots commercials, including Mitsubishi Motors, and music videos; notably Sia Furler's (lead singer of british band zero 7) recent clip Sunday from her album colour the small one which he photographed and produced for Astralwerks records in the US. Nick is represented in Australia by Robin Gardiner Management.
