tusk shell of the familyGadilidae , endemic toNew Zealand waters. It is found from Northland toFiordland , including theChatham Rise andChatham Islands , at depths of between 35 and 600 m, and inMilford Sound at between 180 and 200 m.The shell is large, gently curved and evenly tapered, except for a slight constriction at the aperture. The apex is distinctive in that it is indented by six slits.
Length is up to 13.5 mm, and width up to 2.1 mm.
