Kenneth Paul Block is among the foremost United States fashion illustrators of the 20th century. He worked as an in-house illustrator for
Fairchild Publications for more than 40 years, drawing numerous covers forW magazine andWomen's Wear Daily . He also drew advertisements forBergdorf Goodman ,Bonwit Teller , andLord & Taylor department stores in New York.In addition to his career in fashion, Block drew program covers for the Ballet Society, the forerunner to the
New York City Ballet . He has drawn dozens of society ladies, such asBabe Paley andJackie Kennedy , as well as theDuchess of Windsor .Block was born in Larchmont,
New York , and moved toManhattan in his teens, where he has resided ever since. He attended theParsons School of Design .A career retrospective of Block's work will be published in 2008.
