In a lawsuit MPAA vs TorrentSpy, Judge Jacqueline Chooljian ordered TorrentSpy to save its server logs to disk and present them to the court as evidence in the case. The logs contain user IP addresses and lists of downloaded files. No American court ever made such an order, and many believe it has the power to erode privacy across the web. As a result of the ruling TorrentSpy has decided to block US users, although it denied that the block was connected to the lawsuit.
