Palm Treo

Palm Treo

The Palm Treo [ˈtriːəu] is a line of smartphones originally developed by Handspring, which was bought by Palm, Inc. They are now manufactured and maintained by Palm, Inc. Treos have a number of integrated features such as the ability to check the calendar while talking on the phone, dial directly from a list of contacts, and send email messages. Recent models include a built-in camera. Traditionally, Treos run Palm OS which allows synchronization with both Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows, but newer models also have editions that run Windows Mobile.

Treo Devices

As of August 2008, there have been nineteen Treo models, listed below in order of release. Treos through the 680 series have used Palm OS; Beginning with the 700 series, Treos are using both Palm OS and Windows Mobile. The Treo 700w was the first of the 700 line and the first Treo to ever use Windows Mobile. On August 19, 2008, Palm released the Treo Pro, which is thinner than the 800w, uses Windows Mobile 6.1, and has a touchscreen and UMTS/HSDPA GSM networking.
