Île Illiec is an
island off the northBrittany coast ofFrance .It was owned by the famous American
aviator Charles Lindbergh during his stay inEurope between 1936 and 1939.Following the kidnapping and murder of his son in the 1930s, Lindbergh purchased the four-
acre (1.6 hectare) French island Île Illiec for $16,000 as a retreat.To increase privacy, he strategically planted
cypress andpine trees.The island, still private, is now owned by the
