Michel Foucault 's "This is not a pipe ".The exhibition displays newly made links to
Magritte 'ssurrealism , combined with the contemporary-modern legacy ofDan Flavin 'sminimalism , placing the play ofmap/territory relation within art firmly within a contemporary context.Notable due to the participation of "key figure on the British contemporary art scene" [http://www.artfund.org/whatson/what_happened.html]
Richard Wentworth and influential US photographerDuane Michals . Participating artists also include neon-sculptor Ivan Navarro, photographerChema Madoz , conceptual surrealist Jorge Macchi, and the duo of photographersFrode Fjerdingstad and Marcus Palmqvist.The exhibition is linked with the University of Essex's prestigious UECLAA ( [http://www.ueclaa.org University of Essex Collection of Latin American Art] ), and Surrealist Centre [http://www.surrealismcentre.ac.uk/] due to the presence of Argentine surrealist Jorge Macchi.
This exhibition was organised by five young curators studying the Gallery Studies & Critical Curating MA at the
University of Essex 's Art History and Theory department: Sarah Clementson, Evi Papavergou, Eva Ledaki, Victoria Rookyard and Maria Tidball-Binz [http://www2.essex.ac.uk/arthistory/] .
