Reinier Alcántara (born January 14, 1982 in Pinar del Rio, Cuba) is a Cuban footballer, who currently plays as a Striker for the Cuban National Team and FC Pinar del Río. Alcántara made his debut with FC Pinar del Río at age of 15 and has been with the club since his debut. Has won Cuban league MVP Player award in 2006 and 2007, Caps 50 Goals for the club team. Although Cuban players are not permited to sign professional contracts with teams, he remains the most valuable player in Cuban soccer. 2008 marked a new era for Cuba as the selection was coached by Reinolf Franz of Germany with high hopes to qualify for 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

International career

Alcántara made his debut for Cuba in a January 2005 Gold Cup qualification match against Haiti. He was a squad member at the 2007 Gold Cup Finals at the Giants Stadium were he scored the first goal of the match vs Mexico and later with Panama.
