Bakcell

History

Bakcell was established in March 1994 as a Joint Venture between GTIB of Israel and the Ministry of Communication of the Azerbaijan Republic.

Bakcell was just the first company to provide cellular communication services in Azerbaijan. Having started as one of the first large investors in the Azerbaijani market, Bakcell continues to invest in Azerbaijan.

The company started its activity as an Analogue (ETACS) System Operator and in December 1998 began to implement state-of-the-art GSM technology, providing personal communication in compliance with the most competitive international standards.

In December 2003 the company's privatization process was successfully completed. As a result, since January 2004, Bakcell has operated as a company with 100% of private capital.

The company has introduced a wide range of mobile products and services from both the postpaid and prepaid markets.
