- Jason Hepi
Jason Hepi is a "car enthusiast" from
Christchurch, New Zealand who became well known when in May 2007 he wrote a series of letters toThe Press which defended the actions of the city's 'boy racer ' community. His controversial views provoked so much debate on the letters pages that the newspaper gave him a blog, titled "Public Enemy" on their website in which to write. He also appeared on popular current affairs showCampbell Live alongsideClayton Cosgrove , the member of parliament behind legislation making it easier for police to cease cars and an outspoken critic of 'boy racers.' Some commenter's saw differently though, one stated "Think its great what your doing. Someone needs to speak out for the young ones. Keep it up" [cite web | title = Jason Hepi's Blog | work = The Press | url = http://stuff.co.nz/thepress/4078274a15838.html] The blog was short lived however, as it was suspended when Hepi was charged with aggravated robbery. Following his arrest several senior police officers had contacted The Press "eager to alert the newspaper to his arrest."
