- BrainsBreaker
"BrainsBreaker" is a
jigsaw puzzle game for theMicrosoft Windows operating system . It is compatible with every version of Windows. The game allows players to create an unlimited number of puzzles from pictures stored on their computer, and then play them with any number of pieces in currently 7 different shapes. Games can be saved and returned to at any point later, providing a useful alternative to traditional physical jigsaw puzzles.License
The game is sold as
shareware ; unlicensed use is limited to only being able to solve a certain number of pieces for each game, but no other restrictions were imposed. There was, however, a workaround to this in early versions: since only moving the pieces is restricted, a player can rotate the pieces and indirectly move them by abusing the
center of rotation , and the pieces will be solved as desired. The trick may or may not work in newer versions.Competition
"BrainsBreaker" includes a competition feature, in which the program will automatically calculate your score based on various things including time and number of moves made, and also calculate your estimated score when you finish the puzzle. A list of the top 15 scores for each puzzle for each number of pieces and shape is kept, and a player enters his name when starting a puzzle. Players can also send encrypted data about their scores to another player via e-mail (or any other form of communication allowing mere text transmission), who will then import the data and merge the first player's scores list into their scores list.
