ntupdate =Alan Thomas Hinton (born
October 6 ,1942 inWednesbury ,England ) is a former English footballer most notably playing for Derby County and Nottingham Forest in the 1960s. He also famously wore whitefootball boots. Hinton played in the outside left position, scoring regularly.Hinton started his career at Wolverhampton Wanderers, signing in 1959. He scored 29 goals from 75 games in the 1961-63 seasons, which prompted Nottingham Forest to buy him. He appeared 112 times for Forest, scoring 24 times in 4 seasons at Nottingham.
Brian Clough then displayed an interest of signing Hinton for his Derby County (local rivals of Forest) Clough got his man for £30,000 in 1967 and Hinton went on to entertain Derby fans for 8 seasons, in which he played 253 games and scored 63 times.Hinton, like a lot of footballers of the time, moved his career over to America. There was a lot of attraction to play in the American leagues at the time, money and stardom being two key factors. Hinton first played for the
Dallas Tornado for a season, before moving to the Vancouver Whitecaps, where he ended his playing career and moved into coaching. Having settled in America, Hinton managed only American teams, his biggest successes were with the Seattle Sounders (66 games, 45 wins) and later on theTacoma Stars (87 games, 69 wins).Hinton was only ever capped by England twice, in a 2-2 draw with Belgium and a 2-1 win over Wales, both in 1964.
Hinton now works as an estate agent in America, after being involved in efforts to takethe
