Markaz Rif Dimashq

Markaz Rif Dimashq (Arabic: مركز ريف دمشق‎ Markaz Rif Dimašq) is a Syrian district (mantiqah) administratively belonging to Rif Dimashq governorate. It is the capital of the governorate, although the administrative centre lies in the City of Damascus (a separate governorate). At the 2004 Census it had a population of 902,216. It surrounds (but does not include) the City of Damascus.
