Carlmann Kolb (
29 January 1703 -15 January 1765 ) was a Germanpriest , organist, andcomposer .He was born in Kösslarn,
Griesbach ,Lower Bavaria , and educated inAsbach andLandshut . He was ordained a priest in 1729 at theBenedictine Abbey of Asbach, and was also appointed organist there. He acted as tutor to the family of the Count ofTattenbach -Reinstein inMunich , and received hispatronage . He died in Munich.He known works are a
Sinfonia in F major forharpsichord and strings, which is lost, and the "Certamen aonium" (Augsburg , 1733), comprised of aprelude , three verses in the form of shortfughetta s and acadenza on each of thechurch modes . From this collection, his reputation has been established as one of the best organ composers of theSouth German school of his time. The style shows influence by F.X.A.Murschhauser andGottlieb Muffat . Modern editions have been published inAltötting , 1959, ed. R. Walter, andHeidelberg , 1960.ources
