Róbert Berény (1887 - 1953 in
Budapest ) was a Hungarian painter.In 1904, he studied underTivadar Zemplényi for several months before moving toParis , where he was particularly influenced byCézanne 's art.Berény is best known for his form of
expressionism andcubism . His most important work of this period is the portrait of Bartók (1913). That year he also produced "Scene". participated in the art life of the Hungarian Soviet Republic, and was the leader of the department for painting in the Art Directorate.After 1919, he emigrated to
Berlin , which he left for his country in 1926. He the worked inZebegény after 1934, awarded with the Szinnyei prize in 1936.Unfortunately his workshop was destroyed together with many of his works in 1945. He became a teacher of the Art School and died in 1953.
