The Man (graphic novel)

The Man (graphic novel)

The Man is an illustrated children's book by British author Raymond Briggs, first published in 1992. It tells the story of a boy who is visited by the titular Man, a minuscule human who arrives in the boy's bedroom unclothed and hungry. The boy initially believes he is dreaming, but soon realises that the Man is indeed real, and starts to take care of him. The Man shows himself to be demanding, bossy and messy, but nevertheless a bond forms between the pair. The story follows their relationship over the next few days.

Unlike Briggs' earlier story The Snowman, both characters have full dialogue throughout, with each character's lines formatted differently so that they can be distinguished. Occasionally, the dialogue and drawings will be interspersed, so that speech bubbles surround certain lines of text.

The story is within a span from Monday morning to Friday morning. In it, Mancomes in and takes over. Him and the boy, John, get into arguments and end up making up. Over all, they for a relationshp; however, something happens at the end that is pretty heart-breaking.
