Southern Audio Services

Southern Audio Services

Southern Audio Services is an electronics manufacturer chiefly recognized for its brandname and product line known as Bazooka Mobile Audio. Business and manufacturing are both based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Its product range focuses on mobile audio applications and accessories for car and marine with a focus on subwoofers mounted in a patented tube-styled design enclosure.

The company was founded in 1983 by Jon Jordan originally as a home audio loudspeaker manufacturer, but shifted focus to mobile audio soon after. Engineer Dave Prophit collaborated in 1985 to help design the Bazooka's 'bass tubes' which holds two patents. Jordan marketed the newly designed product himself aggressively and he attributes the company's success to Prophit' design and to the teamwork of SAS's staff.

Bazooka products have received awards over the years from print and online publications, including Innovations magazine and Edmunds.com for "Top 10 Sound Systems in Cars Under $30,000 for 2004."
