Fausto Rey

Fausto Rey

Fausto Rey, "Fausto Ramón Sepulveda", was born December 1, 1950 in Higuey at the east coast of Santo Domingo, the capital of Dominican Republic.

"Rey" was the first contemporary Dominican singer to report a "Full House" in his concerts at the legendary "San Carlos Theater" and at the "Quisqueya Stadium" in Dominican Republic. "Rey" is a "Crooner", with a great pronunciation and a special "swing'. He's been in the music business for more than 35 years. He was a teen-idol during the 70's in Dominican Republic.

Lady "Cristrobalina Sepúlveda", mother of "Rey", was responsible of the structure of his character. She was a visionist, a tender mom, and always approved his artistic dreams of becoming a great singer. Sir "Secundino D'Aza", "Rey's" adoptive father, was born in India. Sir "Antolín Soler", "Rey's" biological father, had little or no contact with his son in his early years. "Soler", was one of the best "Guiro" players of Dominican Republic. Presently, he is retired and pleased to be "Rey's" father and best friend.

One of Fausto Rey's, favorite singing trainings was to attend the dominical concerts of the "Municipal Band", at the park, where everything had a beautiful scent of music, happiness, mints, "cacaitos", and lollipops.

Fausto Rey, as a child, had to carry out difficult and strenuous jobs as a shoeshine boy, selling saint's images, candy, cornbread, (cooked by his mother), and tickets from the "National Lottery". Nevertheless, he was very happy as a child.

In his teens, he lived at "La Romana" area. His great love for music was arising day by day and he couldn't hide that he had the essence of the music inside of him. He participated and won numerous talent shows. He formed a rock goup called: "Los Magnéticos", meanwhile he already was part of another one called "Los Brah-Mins" in Santo Domingo.

"Rey's" success wasn't by chance, at all. He encountered many closed doors he had to open, because one or more "producers' wouldn't open them for him. Furthermore, someone said he didn't have the look.

And there was this young guy, from a far away small town, humble, and facing an industrialized battalion of giant mills, and carrying only three amulets: "Lady Cristobalina", the spirit of the "guiro" of his biological father, and his own faith.

Currently, Fausto Rey lives in New York and performs concerts in Boston, Chicago, Canada and New York. Rey made television appearances in Chile, Argentina, Peru, Costa Rica and Panama recently, and has been performing with Dominican singer and composer Anthony Ríos in New York, and in Santo Domingo with Puerto Rican singer Sophy.
