remarks =The Silver Knight Awards are achievement awards granted to a select group of high school seniors inSouth Florida each year. They have been given inMiami-Dade County, Florida since 1959 and inBroward County, Florida since 1984. Broward and Miami-Dade county awards are given in separate ceremonies. The awards aim to recognize recipients' "record of service to school and community." The awards are given in fifteen categories--Art, Athletics, Business, Drama, English & Literature, Foreign Language, General Scholarship, Journalism, Mathematics, Music, New Media, Science, Social Science, Speech, and Vocational-Technical. Each high school is permitted to nominate one student per category. The winner in each category receives $1500, a Silver Knight statue and a medallion. Three honorable mentions in each category receive engraved plaques.The Silver Knight Awards have been recognized as one of the top student achievement award programs in the United States.
