Karlsøya is an island in
Karlsøy commune inTroms municipality. The name "Karlsøy" comes from the man's name "Kalfr" which comes from "Kalven", formerly meaning "the little island which lies next to the bigger one", referring toVanna . Karlsøya lies directly south of Vanna and north-east of Reinøya. The island has had the central church of Karlsøy municipality for many hundred years.Karlsøya is also the name of an island in Østfold fylke in Norway. It's a little island, much smaller than it's norhern "brother". Here the local people have lived and farmed the land for centuries. Among the more known local people you have "Osten", he was said to live in a yellow house that bear the likeness of a cheese. Thereby the name "Osten".
