History
FableVision was founded in 1996 as a sister company to eLearning media company Cosmic Blender, in
Watertown, Massachusetts . The company became independent in 1999 through a purchase by one of its foundersPeter H. Reynolds . In November 2006, FableVision moved toBoston 's harborside, where it is co-located in theBoston Children's Museum onChildren's Wharf . The building, now named the Yawkey Center for Children and Learning also houses several other learner-centered organizations, such as JumpStart, Museum Institute for Teaching Science (MITS), and Citizen Schools.Organizations Associated with FableVision
The Blue Bunny is a children's book and toy shop located in
Dedham, Massachusetts , founded and owned by the Reynolds brothers. The Blue Bunny conducts workshops that foster self-expression and creativity, hosts author/illustrator events, and other special events that promote literacy and the arts.
FableVision is a member of the Constructivist Consortium whose members include Tech4Learning, Schoolkit, LCSI,Inspiration Software , andGeneration YES . The members formed the Consortium in order to support constructivist learning strategies. These include empowering learners, using technology to expand students' opportunities, and teaching "21st century skills" in schools.The Research Centre for Media Psychology (RCMP), co-located at FableVision's Boston headquarters, is also affiliated with FableVision through a partnership with theFielding Graduate University .
