Pereira attended Ludlow High School in
Ludlow, Massachusetts and completed a post-graduate year atSuffield Academy ,Suffield, Connecticut . At Suffield, along with Gambian team mate Daniel Njie, Pereira led the team to the New England Prep Championship. After high school, he attendedBrown University where he played as a forward on the men’s soccer team from 1973 to 1976. In 1974, Pereira set a Brown record with twenty-four goals and seven assists as Brown won theIvy League title. The next season, Brown went to theNCAA Final Four where it fell to theUniversity of San Francisco . In 1974 and 1976, Pereira was named a first team All American.National team

Steve Ralbovsky in a 2-1 win over El Salvador. He continued to play somewhat regularly, usually as a substitute, for the next two months. On October 10, 1977, he scored his only goal with the national team, the gamewinner in a 1-0 victory over China. His last cap came six days later when he came on for Ralbovsky in a 2-1 victory over China. In 1977, the
Fort Lauderdale Strikers of theNorth American Soccer League (NASL) selected Pereira in the NASL College Draft. While he began the season with the Strikers, scoring three goals in nine games, the team traded him mid-season to theConnecticut Bicentennials . At the end of the 1977 season, the Bicentennials moved toOakland, California , but Pereira moved to theColorado Caribous . At the end of the 1978 season, the Caribous also moved, but this time Pereira went with his team, spending the 1979 season with his team, now known as theAtlanta Chiefs . He left the NASL at the end of the 1979 season.Pereira now serves as an NCAA college soccer referee.
