James S. Robinson

James Sidney Robinson (October 14, 1827 - January 14, 1892) was a U.S. Representative from Ohio.

Born near Mansfield, Ohio, Robinson attended the common schools. Acquired the art of printing.He moved to Kenton, Ohio, December 31, 1845. Edited and published the Kenton Republican. Chief clerk of the Ohio House of Representatives in 1856. Enlisted in Company G, Fourth Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, April 17, 1861, and rose through the ranks to colonel.He served as chairman of the Republican State executive committee of Ohio 1877-1879.He was appointed commissioner of railroads and telegraphs in Ohio in January 1880.

Robinson was elected as a Republican to the Forty-seventh and Forty-eighth Congresses and served from March 4, 1881, to January 12, 1885, when he resigned. Secretary of state of Ohio 1885-1889.He died in Kenton, Ohio, January 14, 1892.He was interred in Grove Cemetery.
