Jeremy Morse

Sir Christopher Jeremy Morse (* December 10 1928 [ [http://zulu.maia.ch/~iseli/cgi/twiki/bin/view/PCCC/ComposersNamesInVariousAlphabetsM ComposersNamesInVariousAlphabetsM < PCCC < TWiki ] ] ), known as Sir Jeremy Morse, was Chancellor of the University of Bristol between 1989 and 2003 before being succeeded by the Baroness Hale of Richmond [ [http://www.bris.ac.uk/news/2004/375 Bristol University | News from the University | Chancellor ] ] and was chairman of Lloyds Bank [ [http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/bristol/2932938.stm BBC NEWS | England | Bristol | New university chancellor nominated ] ] .

Son of Francis John Morse and his wife Kinbarra (née Armfield-Marrow), he was educated at West Downs School, Winchester College, and New College, Oxford. A career banker, he began with Williams and Glyn's Bank and went on to be chairman of Lloyds Bank between 1977 and 1993.

Morse also is a chess writer and wrote a book called "Chess Problems: Tasks and Records".

In 1955, he married Belinda Marianne, daughter of Lt-Colonel R. B. Y. Mills, and they had three sons and two daughters (one of whom died young).
