Henry Ashley

Henry Ashley (February 19, 1778 - January 14, 1829) was a U.S. Representative from New York.

Born in Winchester, New Hampshire, Ashley attended the common schools.He served as clerk of Winchester village in 1811.He was in the Justice of the Peace in 1817.He engaged in the manufacture of leather in Catskill, New York.He served as chairman of the tanners' association in 1825.

Ashley was elected as a Jacksonian to the Nineteenth Congress (March 4, 1825-March 3, 1827).He was not a candidate for reelection in 1826.He resumed his former business pursuits.He served as president of the board of trustees of the village of Catskill in 1828. Trustee of the apprentices' library in 1828.He died in Catskill, New York, January 14, 1829.He was interred in Thomson Street Cemetery.
