Co-Founder of Jamaica AIDS Support (JAS) Ian McKnight served as Executive Director for this organization from 1991 until 2002 .

McKnight also worked as Director of Targeting Interventions and Director for Social Marketing and Public Education with JAS and as Jamaica Country Coordinator for Christian Aid.

Ian McKnight now serves as Media and Communications Specialist with the Jamaican Government under the JA-Style, USAID/Ministry of Health project.

McKnight served as facilitator of PANCAP/CARICOM’s "Champion for Change" initiative and the HIV National Advocacy and Policy Development Training for National HIV Control Program in Saint Maarten. Also a trainer, McKnight's clients include UNIFEM, Fluid Bodies Project on New York.His services include the Caribbean Vulnerable Communities (CVC) along with the Curriculum Development team in conjunction with the Centre for HIV/AIDS Education Research Services (CHARES), The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and the American Society of Black Psychologists.

As Chairman of Partners for Community Change, McKnight focused on the external debt relief campaign and was a Writer for the University of the West Indies (UWI) Masters in Counselling Programme. He also served as Consultant to the Canadian International Development Agency’s (CIDA) contract with the Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU), the AIDS Coalition of Nova Scotia (ACNS) and Jamaica AIDS Support (JAS).

Since 2006, Ian McKnight has served as Chairman of Jamaica AIDS Support for Life and sits on the Board of organizations such as Children for Community Change (3Cs), an inner city NGO for children and the Ashe Performing Arts Ensemble. McKnight is also Chairman of Caribbean Vulnerable Communities Jamaica Coalition, a Jamaican civil society coalition working on prevention, access to care and support, and human rights for vulnerable populations

He is also a member of the Caribbean Treatment Action Group [CTAG] , a Caribbean Regional group of activists committed to access to treatment and literacy for persons living with HIV or AIDS in the Caribbean.

Ian McKnight attended the University of the West Indies (Bachelor in Theology) and (Masters in Communication for Social and Behaviour. McKnight also completed a Masters in Human Resource Management with Nova Southeastern University. In 2004, McKnight received the Gleaner Company award for excellence in Health, for work with Jamaica AIDS Support. He also won the Governor General’s award for un-sung heroes for Kingston and St. Andrew in 2006.
