Ray Vaughn Pierce (
August 6 ,1840 -February 4 ,1914 ) was a U.S. Representative fromNew York .Born in
Stark, New York , Pierce attended public and private schools.He was graduated from the Eclectic Medical College,Cincinnati, Ohio , in 1862. Practiced medicine inTitusville, Pennsylvania from 1862 to 1866.He moved toBuffalo, New York , in 1867.He engaged in the manufacture and sale of proprietary medicines and established the Invalids' Hotel and Surgical Institute.He served as member of the State senate 1877-1879.Pierce was elected as a Republican to the Forty-sixth Congress and served from
March 4 ,1879 , toSeptember 18 ,1880 , when he resigned.He was publisher of the Medical Adviser and also a manufacturer.He died on St. Vincents Island, Florida,February 4 ,1914 .He was interred in Forest Lawn Cemetery,Buffalo, New York .ource
